South Korean President Lee Jae Myung has nominated Han Seongsook, a former chief executive of internet portal operator Naver, to serve as prime minister, according to announcements by the presidential office on Sunday.

The nomination was presented as part of the administration’s effort to advance its artificial-intelligence policy agenda and support its broader economic strategy.

Han has previously led Naver, one of South Korea’s major online platform companies, and her proposed appointment would require the relevant confirmation process under South Korea’s governmental procedures.
